CREPIM referenced as expert in nanotech in the Nanora project

Friday 09 may 2014

CREPIM: Key partner in Nanora project!!!!

The Nano Regions Alliance stands for facilitated market entrance for nano technology SMEs through a transnational linking of regional support schemes, the development of new, transnational support structures and the set-up of transnational competence pools. Through the NANORA project, key actors of seven regions, Hessen (DE), Saarland (DE), Nord-Pas de Calais (FR), Ireland (IE), Wallonia (BE), the Netherlands (NL), and Lancaster region (UK), have joined forces in order to develop a coordinated effort to support the economy of nanotechnology at a transnational level.

NANORA is fostering cross-sector innovation by establishing and implementing a transnational support framework for nanotechnology.

The Nano Regions Alliance provides facilitated market entrance for nano technology SMEs through a transnational linking of regional support schemes, the development of new, transnational support structures and the set-up of transnational competence pools.

Unlike other disciplines, nanotechnology is cross-sectoral by nature: spanning various disciplines, nanotechnologies combine several research methods that aim to influence properties and structures at the molecular level. This produces completely new functions that can be used and applied in a wide and diverse range of industries and fields. Developments in nanotechnology will shape our daily life in a multitude of applications: electronics, materials, energy efficiency, surface coating, medicine etc.

All regions participating in NANORA have specific strengths and expertise on very different fields of nanotechnology. It is recognized that the development of Europe as a nanotechnology hub can only be achieved through the intensive cooperation of Europe’s major nanotechnology players. Only through concerted action can the European regions successfully take part in the global competition for nano-enabled economic growth.

Objectives

-Make NWE (North-Western Europe) nanotechnology competences transparent and accessible.

-Open the regional nanotechnology support schemes to transnational cooperation opportunities and establish a transnational support framework.

-Establish transnational competence pools to facilitate collaboration and match-making.

-Develop new market opportunities for SMEs through joint transnational actions.

-Ensure outreach to the policy level and long-term anchoring of the Alliance in the regions.

In this context, CREPIM is one of the major European Laboratories for development and the approval of materials covered by fire regulations. CREPIM develops, guaranties and qualifies the fire performances of materials and assemblies containing nanotechnologiesfor all concerned areas featuring the mass transportation sectors (railways, aircrafts and boats), in the building, electrical, and textile sectors. All these studies underlie the end of life management of the product in order to be in line with the potential “second life” of material and with the environment impact.
